How wide is the application of Polypropylene (PP)?

Polypropylene (PP) can be said to be "a plastic around us" by each of us. It looks like polyethylene but is more transparent and lighter than polyethylene. PP is a kind of thermoplastic material with excellent properties. It has the advantages of small specific gravity, non-toxicity, easy processing, impact resistance and flex resistance. Has a wide range of applications in daily life, including woven bags, films, turnover boxes, wire shielding materials, toys, car bumpers, fibers, washing machines.

PP is one of the five general-purpose synthetic resins, usually translucent colorless solids, odorless and non-toxic. Due to the highly structured structure, the melting point can be as high as 167°C. Heat resistance, corrosion resistance, steam sterilization products is its outstanding advantages. Low density is the lightest universal plastic. The disadvantages are poor low-temperature impact resistance and easier aging, but they can be overcome by modification.

Polypropylene is one of the more mature synthetic resins. With the continuous development of synthetic technology, excellent performance is widely used in various fields, the demand is relatively stable, and the market outlook is relatively optimistic. However, on the other hand, with the increase in capacity expansion around the world, the pressure on the polypropylene market has become greater and greater. The low-end polypropylene product market has gradually become saturated, and the added value of profits has decreased. From the perspective of product development and demand, high-end products have become the new darling of many manufacturing companies, such as injection molding products, high-end film packaging can be widely used in automotive, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, radio, textile, defense and other engineering accessories, daily necessities, turnover boxes, Medical and health equipment, construction materials, film products, PP packaging, etc. are all higher value-added products.

The new national standard divides polypropylene into narrow strips (pulled-grade PP), injection molding, film, fiber, extrusion, PP plastic boxes, and PP sheets used in PP folding boxes according to the purpose. Polypropylenes of different classes have different molecular weights and generally cannot be substituted for each other. Polypropylene in the market has different grades due to different uses, and the market price also differs greatly. Narrowband Polypropylene listed on the Dalian Commodity Exchange is the polypropylene product with the largest demand in China. It is mainly used for woven bags, (shade or cover) color strip fabrics, carpet backings (base fabrics), container bags, and canopies. The production of cloth and ropes is mainly used for the packaging of grain, fertilizers, cement, sugar, salt, industrial materials and mineral sands.
